The Maze Working title

Walk it. Take the pot before it takes you.

A first-person horror game with a live cash-out. While you walk the corridor, your winnings climb on screen. Take them whenever you like. If the thing in the dark reaches you first, you get nothing.

Rec

How it plays

  1. A chamber in the hedge maze at night, with three doors and the pot, the cash-out value and the next treasure shown below. 01

    Pick a door

Three doors in every chamber. They look different, and each is exactly the same gamble.

  2. Walking a corridor. The value reads 1.02x, with a button to take 9.78 chips. 02

    Take it while you walk

Each corridor lasts four seconds, and the cash-out climbs the whole way. Take it at any moment. Wait too long and the scare gets there first.

  3. The end of a round: cashed out, with a map of every chamber and all three doors of each, and the way out traced in violet. 03

    See the whole maze

When the round ends, every door of every chamber is shown: the route you walked, and the way out if there was one.

Fair, and anyone can check

  • Every door is fixed before the first step. The server publishes a hash of its seed when the round opens.
  • When the round ends, the server reveals the seed and the whole maze, including the doors nobody opened. Anyone can recompute it.
  • A cash-out in the corridor is timed by the server's own clock, so a modified client can't read ahead and bail just in time.
  • Every strategy returns the same 96%, checked over 10 million simulated rounds each, and computed exactly for the reference strategy.
  • Built to be certified: its own game server, a maths engine with no I/O, and an append-only audit log.
A finished round: cashed out at 23.93 chips in chamber three. The map shows all six chambers and every door that held death, the route walked in amber, and the way out in violet from where the player stopped to the exit. Below, the server confirms it recomputed the round from its seeds and it matches.

Burd Studio

We make casino games where the maths is the product. The Maze is our first. It's playable end to end on its own game server, built to be certified, and we're looking for a distribution partner.

Operators and publishers: we'll send the demo, the PAR sheet and the maths.
